WHAT: Celebrate the historic grand opening of the Seattle Aquarium’s new Ocean Pavilion, the state-of-the-art expansion highlighting one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems only seen in the tropical waters around Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia known as the Coral Triangle.
Ahead of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the state-of-the-art expansion, you will hear from:
- Governor Jay Inslee
- Muckleshoot Tribal Chairperson Jaison Elkins
- Bishop of the 1910 Shaker Church Dennis Anderson
- Suquamish Tribal Council Member and Traditional Foods and Medicine Program Coordinator Azure Bouré
- King County Executive Dow Constantine
- Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell
- Seattle Aquarium President and CEO Bob Davidson
- Dr. Sylvia Earle, world-renowned oceanographer and expert on marine biology
WHEN: Thursday, August 29 from 11:15am–12pm. Crew set-up begins at 10:30am and the program starts at 11:15am.
WHERE: Crews can check in at the information booth outside the new Ocean Pavilion on Aquarium Plaza at 1483 Alaskan Way.
