Join us as we welcome members of Indigenous communities to the Aquarium for a day of cultural learning, storytelling and knowledge sharing! Explore our campus and learn about career paths from Aquarium staff. Enjoy cultural demonstrations from local tribes, plus tales from Indigenous storytellers.
Bringing little ones? Check out Toddler Time in our classrooms in Pier 59 from 9:30am–noon.
Tribal members, First Nations and Indigenous peoples can receive $2 off admission purchased at Pier 59. Further discounted tickets are available through the Seattle Aquarium Connections program. Check back soon for a list of Connections partners you can reach out to for this event. Discounts cannot be combined.

This event is open to anyone who wants to celebrate and engage with Indigenous culture and knowledge.
Storyteller: Barbara Lawrence
Barbara Lawrence (Suquamish) is a tribal elder and a traditional storyteller. She has a passion for and deep knowledge of Suquamish and Coast Salish history, culture, politics and archaeology. Raised near Seattle on the Suquamish Port Madison Indian Reservation, she was very involved in the conception of the Canoe Journeys through her appointment to the Washington Centennial Commission. Barbara has served on several state advisory boards, committees, commissions and task forces that bridge tribal and state interests. She currently works for the Suquamish Tribal Education Department. Barbara is the mother of four adult children and the Kiyah (grandmother) to 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Storytelling with her grandchildren is her favorite pastime.
