On Friday, June 7, over 700 guests enjoyed a beautiful night on the waterfront to protect and celebrate our one world ocean at the Seattle Aquarium’s signature fundraising gala Splash! Guests spent time with the animals in our care, learned about various programs that serve both marine conservation and our community, and generously supported this important work.
Thank you to honorary chairs Peter Seligmann and Lee Rhodes, who were represented by Lee’s son Cedric Rhodes, for their inspiring words and lead gift that kicked off a lively raise the paddle. We’re thrilled to announce that together we raised more than $830,000 in support of the work of the Seattle Aquarium as we expand with the opening of the Ocean Pavilion on August 29.
Jim Wharton, Ph.D, the Aquarium’s vice president of conservation engagement and learning, shared his perspective on the importance of the Aquarium’s mission at this critical time for the future of our planet:
“The Ocean Pavilion is reintroducing the world to the Seattle Aquarium as a globally relevant, community-rooted conservation organization. A comprehensive conservation organization that can touch all areas of the conservation enterprise, from understanding the issue…to working with communities and regulators and legislators to decide what needs to be done…to communicating and collaborating with the public to create the political will and societal norms to make it happen. By sharing everything we do to advance conservation, we can also help people understand both realities and opportunities of equitable and effective conservation strategies.”
We appreciate everyone’s support of our mission, Inspiring Conservation of Our Marine Environment, and can’t wait to see you at Splash! 2025.
Enjoy these photos from the festivities!
There’s still time to donate and support the work of the Seattle Aquarium as we expand with the opening of the Ocean Pavilion.
